Literacy Tools for Children and K-12 Teachers Finalists for “Oscars of Education”

NEW HAVEN, CT (December 9, 2020) – Two partners in the Haskins Global Literacy Hub, have literacy tools grounded in the Science of Reading that are finalists at this year’s Reimagine Education Conference & Awards, which begins virtually today and runs through December 11.

This international event highlights innovative tools in education in a variety of categories, with a focus on tools in higher education, Haskins Global Literacy Hub is thrilled that innovations from hub partners were among the shortlisted candidates selected from 1200 applications to be highlighted at this event. GraphoGame, a research-based reading game for learning and training phonemic awareness, decoding, and word-level fluency for young children, was shortlisted in the Best Education App category and AIM Pathways, an online training platform focused on providing literacy professional development to K-12 teachers and education leaders, was shortlisted in the Science of Learning category.

The two tools, both grounded in the Science of Reading focus on improving literacy and reading skills for all children with technology that is accessible globally and provide important access to evidence-based lessons, activities and games to promote reading fluency.

We are thrilled to be recognized with Reimagine Education’s Gold Award in the Science of Learning category and are honored to share the spotlight with GraphoGame as finalists for the Reimagine Education Awards,” said Dawn Brookhart, Associate Director of AIM Institute for Learning & Research. “Through AIM Pathways, teachers learn how to employ prescriptive and diagnostic instruction in literacy based on neuroscience. GraphoGame strengthens this prescriptive approach by providing parents and teachers with a student-facing tool to teach reading and spelling.  As partners in the Haskins Global Literacy Hub, the social impact of literacy research through our joint efforts serves as an equalizer for the great inequities that we currently face in education.”

We are so proud to be affiliated with AIM Institute through our common partnership with the Haskins Global Literacy Hub,” said GraphoGame co-founder Jesper Ryynänen. “The work AIM does especially through AIM Pathways is crucial to the success of student-oriented educational apps like ours and we wholeheartedly congratulate AIM for their award at Reimagine Education”
