Consulting Services
For Schools, School districts, Departments of Education and Researchers
What we offer
Through our network of experts in reading intervention, speech pathologies, neuroscience, genetics and educational technologies, the Haskins Global Literacy Hub can provide a wide range of services.
Reading Instruction & Intervention
Educators use many practices to help all students learn to read–with great success for many students. However, in many school districts across the U.S., some students have not improved in their reading skills despite hard work on the part of their teachers. Adapting the teaching material and tools being used is thus crucial to answering the varying profiles of children.
This has led the Haskins Global Literacy Hub to wish to provide guidance in knowing what intervention programs to choose and to implement.
Our researchers and reading experts will be happy to meet, learn about your specificities and find with you the best answer for your students.
Literacy Screening and Assessment
Many States require the early screening to determine whether they may be at risk for reading difficulties, like dyslexia but provide little guidance for it. While identifying dyslexia risks early is one of the best way to prevent reading difficulties later on, it is important to use appropriate tools and methods, and to understand the pros and cos of each of them.
With a strong network of researchers specialized in dyslexia screeners, assessments, progress monitoring and intervention, the Haskins Global Literacy Hub can provide valuable insights on how to implement dyslexia screening in your schools.

Haskins Laboratories
Haskins Laboratories is a private, not-for-profit research institute founded in 1935, with a scientific mission to investigate the biological basis of speech, language and reading, and their related disabilities. Together with long-standing collaborators from University of Connecticut, Yale University, and over 40 international partners, Haskins has pioneered the scientific theories that guide current clinical and educational remediations for speech and reading disabilities, including the motor theory of speech perception, the orthographic depth hypothesis, the phonological basis of dyslexia, and the neurobiological system that supports reading. The over-arching mission of the Laboratories is to leverage cutting-edge science to enable those with language impairments to participate more fully in society.
